Terms of use
Who we are
Sahaar is made by Selçuk, an independent developer based in Türkiye. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “the developer” mean Selçuk. Sahaar is not affiliated with any religious authority, including the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye (Diyanet).
Apple, iPhone, Apple Watch and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.
The agreement
These terms apply to the Sahaar app for iOS, its widgets, the Apple Watch app and the website sahaar.app. By installing or using the app, you agree to them.
The app is distributed through the App Store, so Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms add to it. Where these terms are more specific or stricter, they apply on top of Apple’s agreement; they never reduce the rights Apple’s agreement gives you.
What Sahaar is
Sahaar shows prayer times, imsak, suhoor and iftar times, an Islamic calendar, a qibla compass and a dhikr counter, and lets you set alarms and notifications for prayers. It runs on iPhone with iOS 26 or later. There is no account, no sign-in, no ads, no third-party tracking and no personal analytics.
Sahaar is a tool. It does not give religious rulings and does not replace the guidance of your mosque or local authority.
Subscription and free trial
The app is free to download and free to use: prayer times, notifications, the real Fajr alarm, qibla, calendar, the standard widgets and the Watch app never require a subscription. Sahaar Pro is an optional subscription for alarms on every prayer, custom sounds, snooze, history and the richer widgets. You can choose a yearly or a monthly plan; both open the same Pro and include Family Sharing.
The price is the amount shown on the purchase screen and in the App Store for your region. Prices vary by country and may change; a change never affects a period you have already paid for.
The 7-day trial
The trial is an Apple introductory offer, handled entirely by Apple. How it works:
- You pick a plan in the app and confirm on Apple’s purchase sheet. A payment method on your Apple account is required.
- The trial lasts 7 days. Everything in Sahaar Pro works, and nothing is charged.
- If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the plan you picked starts and Apple charges the subscription price.
- The subscription then renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- The trial is available once per Apple account within Sahaar’s subscription group. If you have already used it on one plan, the other plan starts as a paid subscription.
The app does not track, count or end the trial itself, and it does not send reminders. Apple’s notices and your App Store account are the reference for trial and renewal dates.
Cancellation and refunds
Cancel any time in Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone. After cancelling, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for (or until the end of the trial). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription or a trial.
Payments are processed by Apple. We never see your payment or billing details and we cannot issue refunds. To request a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides refund requests under its own policies and the law of your country.
If you moved to a new phone or reinstalled the app, tap Restore purchases in the app to bring your subscription back.
Access when your subscription ends
The app checks your subscription status with the App Store. If your subscription ends and is not renewed, the app does not lock: prayer times, notifications, the Fajr alarm, the standard widgets and all your records keep working. Only Sahaar Pro features return to their free behaviour — alarms for the other prayers become notifications and Pro widgets show a Pro prompt. Subscribing again restores Pro immediately, with your saved Pro settings.
If the app cannot reach the App Store when your subscription is due for verification, it keeps working for three days and shows a notice, so a poor connection does not lock you out. A refund or a change in Family Sharing granted by Apple may end access straight away.
Your prayer records are never deleted for any billing reason.
Prayer times and alarms
Prayer times are calculated on your device using recognised astronomical methods, or read from tables published by regional authorities where we offer them. The source and method are always labelled in the app, and you can change them in Settings.
These times are provided for information. Small differences of a few minutes from your local mosque are normal; at high latitudes differences can be larger. We make reasonable efforts to keep times accurate, but we do not guarantee that they match any official announcement. For religious obligations, follow your local authority.
Whether an alarm or notification actually sounds depends on your device: permissions, Focus modes, Silent mode, battery settings, storage and the version of iOS. That is why we cannot guarantee an alarm will fire in every situation. Do not rely on Sahaar alone for anything where a missed alarm would cause harm. The Hijri calendar and religious days follow the authority you choose; because of moon-sighting differences they can differ from local announcements.
Your data
We collect no personal data, and there is no account. Your location and settings never reach our servers, and your prayer records stay on your phone. The only thing the app sends us is fourteen anonymous counters — totals such as “onboarding completed”, with nothing that could identify you — and you can switch them off in Settings › Privacy.
Some features use Apple services on your device, such as Maps for city search, WeatherKit for weather and StoreKit for purchases. Full details are in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Third-party content and licences
Sahaar includes the following third-party material, each under its own licence:
- Adhan (batoulapps/adhan-swift), the prayer time calculation library, used under the MIT licence.
- MUIS prayer timetable for Singapore: contains information from “Muslim Prayer Timetable 2026”, accessed on 25 August 2026 from data.gov.sg, made available under the Singapore Open Data Licence version 1.0. The table is provided for use inside Sahaar only and may not be redistributed. Its use does not imply endorsement by the Singapore Government or MUIS.
- Weather data is provided by Apple WeatherKit: Apple Weather.
- Quran text: Tanzil Quran Text (Uthmani, version 1.1), © Tanzil Project, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 licence and reproduced without change. Source: tanzil.net.
- Quran translations and tafsir: the English (version 1.0.19) and Turkish (version 1.0.4) translations by the Rowwad Translation Center, and the Turkish Al-Mukhtasar fi Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim (version 1.0) by the Tafsir Center for Quranic Studies, published by QuranEnc.com and republished without modification under its terms. The source and version appear beneath the text in the app.
- Quran recitation: recordings of Muhammad Siddiq al-Minshawi from Wikimedia Commons, where they are marked as public domain, converted to a smaller audio format for streaming. Surahs 58–77 come from the mp3quran.net copy of the same recording, because the Commons files for those surahs end halfway.
- Quran verse timing: verse start and end times from Qur’anic Universal Audio (version 2.4.0) by Wider Community, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. Only verse boundaries were taken; word and letter timings were not used.
Everything else in the app — its code, design, name and logo — belongs to the developer. You may use the app for your personal, non-commercial purposes under Apple’s licence terms.
Acceptable use
Please do not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or resell the app or its content (the third-party material listed above stays under its own licence), bypass the subscription, or redistribute the prayer time tables it downloads. Do not use the app in a way that breaks the law or harms other people.
Liability
Sahaar is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from inaccurate prayer times, an alarm that did not sound, or the app being unavailable. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud, or limits the rights you have as a consumer. Where a limit is allowed, our total liability is capped at the amount you paid for Sahaar in the last 12 months.
Governing law and your rights
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States or elsewhere, you also keep all the mandatory consumer rights of your own country, and nothing here takes those away. Disputes go to the courts of Türkiye, but as a consumer you keep the courts and dispute bodies of your own country wherever your local law gives you that right.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the app or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version. For significant changes we will let you know in the app or on this site before they take effect. Continuing to use Sahaar after a change means you accept the updated terms.
