Prayer Times in Malaysia

How Sahaar calculates prayer times in Malaysia

Malaysia shares its preset with Singapore: Fajr at 20° below the horizon, Isha at 18°, a one-minute margin on Dhuhr, and rounding up to the next full minute. JAKIM's zone tables are built on the same 20°/18° angles, which is why Sahaar applies the Singapore (MUIS) profile across the peninsula and Borneo rather than a generic international one.

One structural difference remains. JAKIM publishes times by zone, each computed from a single reference point and carried across a whole district, sometimes with a few minutes of allowance added. Sahaar computes from the coordinates of the city itself. In Kuala Lumpur the two nearly coincide; at the edge of a large zone a city page may run a minute or two either side of the state table.

Malaysia sits within eight degrees of the equator, so twilight is brief in every season and no high-latitude rule is ever needed. Asr defaults to the standard measure (1× shadow), the measure used throughout the country; the Hanafi measure (2× shadow) is listed beside it.

These pages are calculated by Sahaar and are not an official timetable. The e-Solat schedule for your zone is the one to follow for the mosque.

On 1 October Fajr comes first in Kota Kinabalu (04:47) and last in Alor Setar (05:50), 63 minutes apart; Kota Bharu is the northernmost at 6.1° north and Johor Bahru the southernmost at 1.5° north, so summer nights differ most between them.
