How the Eid prayer time is set
The Eid prayer is held in the morning. Its time begins once the sun has risen and the short disliked period after sunrise has passed, and it lasts until shortly before the sun reaches its zenith, when Dhuhr begins. Within that window there is no single worldwide time: the mosque, or the national religious body, announces the hour.
In Türkiye, the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) publishes one Eid prayer time for every district on its prayer time site, and does the same for the cities abroad in its district list, most of them in Europe. Diyanet does not add a fixed number of minutes to sunrise: the time changes from place to place and from season to season; in the records below the gap after sunrise is 37 to 43 minutes.
When the time is announced
Diyanet publishes the times only a few days before each Eid. In 2026, Diyanet’s times appeared 1 to 5 days before Eid al-Fitr and 11 to 13 days before Eid al-Adha (Internet Archive records). Sahaar checks Diyanet’s district pages every day from 21 days before each Eid until the morning of Eid, and writes the time on its Turkish pages as soon as it appears, with a link to the source and the time it was retrieved. Sahaar never estimates the time: until Diyanet publishes it, the pages say it has not been announced yet.
Diyanet’s own site: namazvakitleri.diyanet.gov.tr. The Turkish list covers Türkiye’s 81 provinces and 70 cities abroad, from Berlin and Vienna to Paris and Stockholm.
Eid dates in 2027
Eid al-Fitr: Tuesday 9 March 2027 by Diyanet’s list, Tuesday 9 March 2027 by the Umm al-Qura calculation. Eid al-Adha: Sunday 16 May 2027 by Diyanet’s list, Sunday 16 May 2027 by the Umm al-Qura calculation. The Eid prayer is held on the morning of the first day. Many communities announce Eid after the new moon is sighted, so the day where you live can be one day earlier or later; follow your mosque’s announcement.

Outside Türkiye
In Europe, the Eid prayer is held at the time the mosque announces. Mosques of the Turkish-Islamic Union (DITIB) may announce a different time from the one Diyanet publishes for the city; when they differ, follow the mosque. Outside Diyanet’s list, ask your local mosque: Sahaar does not publish Eid prayer times for other authorities.
