Prayer Times in Ireland

How Sahaar calculates prayer times in Ireland

Ireland uses the Muslim World League profile in Sahaar, Fajr at 18° and Isha at 17°, the angles most European mosques begin from. Dhuhr carries a one-minute margin after solar noon. Unlike Britain, Ireland has no widely adopted unified timetable that Sahaar could measure the preset against, so the profile is the plain astronomical one rather than a seasonally adjusted formula.

Every Irish city lies north of 48.5°, which brings the high-latitude rule into play. From about mid-May to early August the sun in Dublin never sinks 18° below the horizon, so a strict calculation would produce no Fajr and no Isha at all. Sahaar answers that with the middle-of-the-night rule: on those nights Isha is fixed at the midpoint between sunset and sunrise and Fajr mirrors it, so the row is never empty. Outside that window the ordinary angles apply and the rule sits idle.

Asr defaults to the standard measure (1× shadow); the Hanafi measure (2× shadow) is shown beside it on every city page.

These times are calculated by Sahaar and are not an official timetable. If your mosque or the Islamic Cultural Centre publishes its own, follow that.

Cities

3 cities so far, chosen by the size of their Muslim communities rather than by population. On 1 October Fajr comes first in Dublin (05:29) and last in Cork (05:42), 13 minutes apart; Dublin is the northernmost at 53.3° north and Cork the southernmost at 51.9° north, so summer nights differ most between them.
