Prayer Times in Canada

How Sahaar calculates prayer times in Canada

Canada gets its own profile rather than a copy of the American one. In 2017 the Fiqh Council of North America recommended 13° for both Fajr and Isha at Canadian latitudes, and Sahaar follows that guidance: the preset is labelled ISNA — Canada (13°), and it yields a later Fajr and an earlier Isha than the 15° profile used south of the border. Masjids on the 2017 angles should match these pages closely; a board still on 15° will show Fajr several minutes earlier in summer.

Latitude matters more here than in any other country in this set. Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton lie north of 48.5°, so Sahaar adds a middle-of-the-night safeguard: Fajr is never placed before the midpoint of the night and Isha never after it. At 13° it rarely overrides the angle, but on the shortest June nights it keeps both prayers inside the real night. Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal sit below the line and never need it.

Asr defaults to the standard measure (1× shadow); the Hanafi measure (2× shadow) is listed alongside on every city page. What you see is calculated by Sahaar and is not an official timetable. Your mosque's own schedule takes precedence.

Cities

10 cities so far, chosen by the size of their Muslim communities rather than by population. On 1 October Fajr comes first in Montréal (05:43) and last in Windsor (06:23), 40 minutes apart; Edmonton is the northernmost at 53.6° north and Windsor the southernmost at 42.3° north, so summer nights differ most between them. The table groups them by province: 4 provinces in this wave.
