Prayer Times in Australia

How Sahaar calculates prayer times in Australia

Australia has no single body that issues prayer times for the whole country, and Sahaar has not measured Australian mosque sheets the way it measured London's. The preset is therefore the Muslim World League profile: Fajr at 18°, Isha at 17°, and a one-minute margin after solar noon for Dhuhr. It is a widely used starting point among state councils and the profile most timetable software falls back to, which makes it the least surprising choice when a page is held against a printed sheet.

No Australian city lies far enough south to need a high-latitude rule. Even at 44° south, beyond the country's southern tip, the sun reaches both twilight angles on every night of the year, so Fajr and Isha here are always the true astronomical values, never a substitute.

Asr defaults to the standard measure (1× shadow). The Hanafi measure (2× shadow) appears beside it on every city page for congregations that follow the later figure. Islamic dates in the app depend on moon-sighting announcements and are not derived from these tables.

Everything on these pages is calculated by Sahaar and is not an official timetable. Where your mosque or state council publishes its own times, follow those instead.

Calculated — not an official timetable. Why prayer times differ between apps and timetables.

Cities

7 cities so far, chosen by the size of their Muslim communities rather than by population. On 1 October Fajr comes first in Sydney (04:09) and last in Perth (04:33), each in its own local time; Brisbane is the northernmost at 27.5° south and Dandenong the southernmost at 38.0° south, so summer nights differ most between them. The table groups them by state or territory: 5 states and territories in this wave.
